Chasing Cattle Dog Boarding Boarding agreement
The terms of every stay with us, in plain words. You agree to them when you send a stay request, and they apply to any stay we confirm with you.
This agreement is between Lucky of Chasing Cattle Dog Boarding ("we", "us"), a home-based dog boarding business in Midlothian, Virginia, and you, the person requesting the stay ("you"). Sending a request doesn't book a stay: these terms apply once we confirm your dates with you.
01 Booking and deposit
Your stay is booked once we confirm your dates and receive a 20% deposit. The deposit is applied toward your total. Rates are the ones listed on Boarding & Rates when we confirm your stay.
The remaining balance is due at pickup, adjusted to reflect the actual length of your dog's stay. Cash is preferred, and we also accept Zelle, Venmo and Cash App.
02 Changes and cancellation
Your deposit is refundable if you cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled boarding start time. If you cancel less than 24 hours before, the deposit is nonrefundable. To change or cancel a booked stay, send us a message or call (804) 338-7902.
If your plans change during the stay, let us know before your scheduled pickup. Extensions are subject to availability. We may cancel a booked stay if something on our side makes it unsafe to board your dog; in that case we refund your deposit in full.
03 Health and vaccinations
You confirm that your dog is in good health and meets our requirements, including:
- Up-to-date Rabies, Bordetella (kennel cough) and DHPP vaccinations, with current records shared before the stay. Puppies need their age-appropriate vaccinations.
- Free of fleas and ticks at drop-off.
- Any medications, allergies, health conditions, recent injuries or surgeries told to us before the stay. Medications come with clear written instructions and a complete dosing schedule from your veterinarian.
If your dog shows signs of illness before drop-off, such as coughing, vomiting, diarrhea or low energy, tell us so we can talk it through or reschedule. We may decline to board a dog who seems unwell at drop-off or doesn't meet the requirements.
04 Behavior
You confirm that your dog is non-aggressive and that you have told us about any history of biting, aggression toward people or dogs, escaping, or separation anxiety. Dogs are dogs: even with careful supervision, play can lead to minor scrapes, and a new place can bring some stress or a change in appetite.
If your dog's behavior puts people, other dogs or itself at risk during the stay, we will contact you, and we may ask you or your emergency contact to pick your dog up early. The balance then reflects the nights your dog actually stayed.
05 Our care
We care for your dog in our home with reasonable care and supervision, follow the feeding and medication instructions you give us, and keep you updated during the stay. If anything happens that you should know about, such as an injury, an illness or an escape attempt, we tell you as soon as possible.
06 Emergency veterinary care
Before the stay, you give us your veterinarian's details and an emergency contact besides you. If your dog seems unwell or is injured, we contact you right away and follow your instructions.
If your dog needs urgent care and we cannot reach you or your emergency contact quickly, you authorize us to take your dog to your veterinarian or to one of the clinics we use, and to approve the treatment the attending veterinarian considers necessary to stabilize your dog and relieve pain. We keep trying to reach you while your dog is cared for.
- Urgent care: Urgent Paws Veterinary Care, 6645 Lake Harbour Drive, Midlothian, VA 23112
- Emergency care: Partner Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center, 1616 Three Chopt Road, Henrico, VA 23233, (804) 206-9122
Responsibility for veterinary costs depends on the circumstances. Our dog boarding insurance provides limited coverage for eligible incidents, subject to the policy's terms and limits. Costs that are not covered are your responsibility, and you agree to reimburse us for any we pay on your dog's behalf.
07 Drop-off and pickup
Drop-off and pickup are between 6 AM and 11 PM, at the times we confirm with your booking. We release your dog only to you or to a person you have named to us in advance, and we may ask for photo ID.
If your dog is not picked up on the agreed day, we keep caring for them, and each extra night is charged at the nightly rate. Please tell us as soon as you know you'll be late.
08 If your dog isn't picked up
If your dog has not been picked up 7 days after the scheduled pickup date, and we have not been able to reach you or your emergency contact by phone, text and email in that time, your dog is considered abandoned. We may then place your dog with a local animal shelter or rescue, as Virginia law allows, and the boarding and care costs up to that day remain due.
09 Photos
We may send you photos and videos of your dog during the stay. We only post photos of your dog publicly, for example on this website, with your permission, and you can say no or change your mind at any time by telling us.
10 Responsibility
You are responsible for any damage or injury your dog causes to people, other dogs or property during the stay, unless it results from our negligence. We are responsible for harm to your dog only when it results from our negligence, and not for illness or injury that arises despite reasonable care, such as a condition your dog already had.
Nothing in this agreement limits rights you have under Virginia law that cannot be limited by agreement.
11 General
This agreement is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. If any part of it can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we update it, the version you agreed to when you sent your request applies to that stay, unless we both agree otherwise.
